The beings known as gods are, in truth, nothing of the sort. They are extremely long-lived to the point of being very nearly immortal, but all of them can be hurt, maimed, and even killed.The difference between mortal and god is that a god has the ability to manipulate the world around him with what seems to be the merest thought or whim. In truth, things are much more complicated than that. What gods actually do are take advantage of the universe's malliability on the quantum level and brings about the changes he wants by powering those changes to be noticed on a macro level. That is, effecting very, very tiny things to produce sometimes massive and dramatic exhibitions of power. Depending on how much power and area a god is able to manipulate decides that god's standing among the others, although there are a few notable exceptions. The vast majority of gods began life as normal members of their respective races and were empowered by an outside agency tobecome a god. The only exceptions to this are 'God' (Not the actual Judeo-Christian deity, he insists of being called Fred.), the Great Devil Zanza, and Luclar. Among these three, Luclar is the only being native to this unirse that began life as he is, a being of immense power and knowledge. Most of the gods were elevated to their current status by Luclar early in his career as the Keeper of Time and the Lord of Fate as a hedge against Zanza. This may have been a mistake on his part, as he did not count on the new gods' ability to pass on their power to their offspring. Fortunately, gods tend to be extremely slow breeders. The following is a listing of known gods and their chosen spheres of influence. THE UNAFILIATED GODS Fred Original Race: Human Empowering Agency: N/A Titles: 'God' Alignment: Chaotic Good Domians: Animal, Chaos, Death, Destruction, Earth, Fire, Good, Healing, Knowledge, Law, Luck, Magic, Plant, Protection, Strength, Sun, Travel, Trickery, War, Water Along with Zanza, Fred is the only creature to have survived the collapse of the previous universe and the formation of the current one. He stands alone and prefers it that way, as it allows him a flexibility and anonymity that no other god enjoys. Of all the other creatures that call themselves gods (Fred doesn't consider himself a god, he prefers to think of himself as an opportunist.), Fred has empowered only one but will never reveal which. His power and abilities are greater even than Zanza's , a thing that irks the Great Devil to no end, and is responsible for the existance of humans in the current universe. He rarely takes an active hand in the general goings on between the gods and mortals, but he has been known to show up from time to time to give an important clue or prompting to those who catch his intertest. THE GODS OF THE NORTH Odin Original Race: Human Empowering Agency: Luclar Titles: The All-Father Alignment: Nuetral Domains: Air, Earth, Fire, Good, Protecvtion, War Chief god of the Northern tribes, father of Thor, brother of Jerox, husband to Freya, and teacher of Baldur, uncle to Hegron. He is the All-Father, supreme in power to the others. He is of a neutral nature, but has strong leanings toward good. Thor Original Race: Demigod Empowering Agency: God by birth Titles: The Thunderer, Great Warrior Alignment: Chaotic Good Domains: Air, Protection, Strength, War The lord of thunder and storms, son to Odin and Freya, cousin to Hegron, friend to Baldur, nephew to Jerox. He is the favored of warriors. His nature is good, although his temperament leans towards the chaotic as he is given to passions over principle. Jerox Original Race: Orc Empowering Agency: Zanza Titles: Bonesmasher, Father of Torment Alignment: Lawful Evil Domains: Death, Earth, Evil, Fire, Law, War The lord of torment, pain, and the accursed dead. He is the brother of Odin, father to Hegron, the snubbed suitor of Freya, uncle to the hated Thor, enemy to Baldur. His nature is evil, and he possesses a cunning intelligence. Hegron Original Race: Demigod Empowering Agency: God by birth Titles: Agony's Child, The Insatiable Alignment: Chaotic Evil Domains: Chaos, Destruction, Strength The ruler of ice and greed. Son to Jerox and a human woman, he was raised to godhood by his father in mockery of Thor. Odin is his uncle, Freya his aunt, Thor his despised cousin, and Baldur his feared nemesis. Like his father, his nature is evil, and despite his intelligence he is given to rages. Baldur Original Race: Human Empowering Agency: Luclar Titles: Guiding Hand, Discerning Blade Alignment: Lawful Good Domains: Air, Earth, Fire, Good, Healing, Law, Magic, Protection, Sun Bringer of light, visions, and wisdom he is revered by scholars, wise men, and mages. A strong warrior, he is a true friend to Thor, very dear to Odin, a favorite of Freya, and a bane to Jerox and Hegron. His Nature is good and his mind unmatched in wit, save for Hest of Western Pantheon. Freya Original Race: Human Empowering Agency: Luclar Titles: Hearth Mother, Traveller's Welcome Alignment: Neutral Good Domains: Earth, Healing, Knowledge, Protection, Travel Keeper of women, nurturer of the traveler, watcher over the lost and weary. She is the wife of Odin, mother of Thor, she favors Baldur as a second son, and if she sees Jerox as a bore and letch then Hegron is a spoiled nephew to be disciplined most sharply. Her nature is good and sees lesser creatures as children to be raised. THE GODS OF THE EAST Torogotsu (Monsters and Non-Human Creatures) Original Race: Devil Empowering Agency: Zanza Titles: Manslayer, Night Terror Alignment: Lawful Evil Domains: Death, Evil, Fire, Knowledge, Law, Magic, War Lord of all that hunts man and brings him fear. He is a keeper of monsters, a father of aberrations, and a fiend of swift death. He hates Kasa Maru and Heray Katsu, sneers at Nagosotu and Naomasu Yi, and sees Shing Giy as a deluded half-wit. His nature is evil, yet despite this he is neither cruel nor malicious. As one of the Five Lords of Fate under the leadership of Zanza, he sees his mission as a necessity in ridding the universe of a tragic mistake. Nagosotu Original Race: Psyconian Empowering Agency: Zanza Titles: Law Twister Alignment: Lawful Evil Domains: Evil, Knowledge, Law, Trickery The tempter of the high minded and instigator of vainglory. Nagosotu sets his hooks for those who would rule to their own benefit than hold to the code of honor. He encourages lords to abuse their servants and judges to rule in favor of those who are most likely to bring them gain. He is an ally to Naomasu Yi, hates Torogotsu for refusing to acknowledge him, and wishes Kasa Maru, Heray Katsu, and Shing Giy would just go away. His nature is evil, and is as much a coward as many of those who he brings under his sway. Naomasu Yi (Ninjas) Original Race: Orc Empowering Agency: Zanza Titles: Silent Blade Alignment: Nuetral Evil Domains: Death, Fire, Luck, Magic, Trickery Silence, stealth, and the night are Naomasu Yi's domain. He finds humans to be useful tools, and nothing but tools. He is an ally to Nagosotu, who shares his views, sees Torogotsu as an arrogant fool, Kasa Maru as an obstacle, and Heray Katsu and Shing Giy as adversaries best avoided. His nature is evil, and while not a coward like Nagosotu, he is cautious almost to a fault. Kasa Maru (Justice) Original Race: Philosapian Empowering Agency: Luclar Titles: Truth's Advocate Alignment: Lawful Nuetral Domains: Knowledge, Law The balancing point between truth and lies, Kasa Maru bids his followers to seek just recompense for wrongs committed. He works closely with Shing Giy, thinks Heray Katsu is a fanatical lunatic, hates Naomasu Yi, finds Torogotsu to be an insufferable mad man, and would not mind seeing Nagosotu tortured for eternity. His nature is neutral with a pragmatic outlook on life. Heray Katsu (Slayer of Demons) Original Race: Human Empowering Agency: Unknown Titles: The Fanatic, The Shielding Blade Alignment: Chaotic Good Domains: Destruction, Protection, Strength, War A sword against the night, a wall between the demons and human survival. Heray Katsu was once human himself, but was elevated to immortal status by unidentified powers. He lives only for the continuance of the human race and the destruction of any who threaten his mortal kin. He values his friendship with Shing Giy, seeks always to enlist the aid of Kasa Maru, and would gladly rid the universe of Naomasu Yi, Nagosotu, and Torogotsu. His nature is good, but he is driven by a passion for life. Shing Giy (Wisdom) Original Race: Ogre Empowering Agency: Luclar Titles: Alignment: Neutral Domains: Air, Earth, Fire, Knowledge, Water The watcher and weigher, the philosopher and scholar. Shing Giy is nearly as ancient as Zanza himself but is more interested in understanding his universe than changing it. He finds Nagosotu, Naomasu Yi, and Torogotsu to be more pitiable than despicable. He rejoices that Heray Katsu seeks out his advise and friendship, and is ever a boon to Kasa Maru in those instances where certainty is clouded. His nature is good, well leavened with patience. THE GODS OF THE WEST Hest (War) Original Race: Elf Empowering Agency: Unknown Titles: Alignmnet: Chaotic Good Domain: Chaos, Good, Knowledge, Strength, Trickery, War Unlike many who style themselves as ‘gods of war’, Hest is the consummate thinker, tactician, and scholar. In all of the millennia that he has lived he has only twice been bested on the field. A master of arms, both ancient and technological, he is without peer. In matters of policy, strategy and tactics, he has no equal. Even the great devil Zanza, though far greater in raw power, will hesitate to move openly against Hest. He did so once before and came away from the confrontation with only a Pyrrhic victory that left all his plans stalled for the next thousand years. Hest’s nature is good and will not hesitate to do what he believes to be right. Stal (Peace) Original Race: Goblin Empowering Agency: Zanza Titles: Alignment: Neutral Evil Domains: Evil, Trickery Not all peace is desirable. Stal would see a total end to all conflict if he could find a means to do so, even if it meant stripping away every living creature’s free will. This moaner and complainer often works by words whispered in secret or by backdoor dealings. He hates Hest but fears to approach him, believes Dorn is withholding vital information from him, and is certain that Luclar is manipulating things to work against him. Stal’s nature is evil. Luclar (Guardian of the Rifts, Lord of Fate) Original Race: Unique Empowering Agency: N/A Titles: Lord of Fate, Keeper of Time Alignment: Neutral Domains: Knowledge, Magic, Protection Even among those who are called gods there are few who can shape the universe around them as they will. Luclar is one of these rare beings and knows with a glance the beginnings and endings of all things. However, because one can do such great things does not mean that one enjoys it. Such knowledge often puts Luclar into depressions and has caused him to become somewhat cynical. To avoid direct contact with other living things, he has appointed himself as guardian of the universes vast network of tesseracts, wormholes, and other high-order physical anomalies. The universe, having been tampered with in its formative centuries by ‘God’, Zanza, and others, has left the place a mess. Someone, Luclar reasons, needs to make sure none of their interference causes any more damage. Luclar’s nature is neutral. Dorn (Knowledge) Original Race: Molcar Empowering Agency: Luclar Titles: Alignment: Neutral Domains: Knowledge The biggest know-it-all to ever exist, Dorn can be a bit of a pest. He has spent his entire existence collecting, cataloging, and forgetting every scrap of information he can and continues to do so. He is amazed that Hest always beats him at games and wonders why Zanza is so hostile (after all, the Great Devil’s been around far longer than almost anyone else and should know better). Dorn takes great delight in learning new things and almost as great pleasure in making people solve riddles and puzzles when they ask him for information. Dorn’s nature is neutral. Repli (Light and Healing) Original Race: Human Empowering Agency: Unknown Titles: Lightning Born Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Domains: Fire, Sun, Trickery Repli is the husband of Demis, one half of the Bonnie and Clyde of the Western Pantheon. This is a rather apt analogy, as the two are responsible for a great many problems within the pantheon as well as outside of it. Repli is a god of healing and light more out of necessity than choice, as he has a habit of near constantly pissing off his fellow gods and goddesses. The light part of his title is more for his knack of blinding someone he’s trying to get away from with a quick flash than for maintaining a steady illumination. The other gods used to overlook these two’s shenanigans due to their being the youngest of the gods, but that has long ago worn thin. If Repli ever learns to stop being such a fool, he may become a reliable source of aid and comfort to his followers. His nature is neutral. Demis (Twilight and Shadows) Original Race: Human Empowering Agency: Unknown Titles: Dame Twilight Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Domains: Chaos, Magic, Trickery To be perfectly honest, Demis is a slut. Although she is the wife of Repli, she will not hesitate to be unfaithful to him if she thinks she can get away with it. No great beauty, it is a wonder that so many fall for her charms. Her distinction for being a goddess of twilight and shadows is due to her ability to lie, cheat, and obfuscate her way out of trouble. When dealing with her, the only time you can be certain she it telling the truth is when she is saying nothing. Her nature is neutral with a pronounced selfishness. THE GODS OF THE CENTRAL REGIONS Elemon (Elves) Original Race: Orc Empowering Agency: Unknown Titles: His Irreverant Reverence Alignment: Neutral Good Domains: Good, Magic, Protection, Trickery Unlike the creatures born of his labors, this god of the elves is stunted and loathsome to behold. Despite his outer appearance and slovenly manner, he possesses a keen mind and a rapier wit. Although the elves refuse to believe it, Elemon claims to have created the elves on a bet. Dorn, god of knowledge in the Western Pantheon once stated, quite matter of factly, that nothing so vile as Elemon could possibly make something of true beauty. Dorn’s part of the bet was to eat one of his larger tomes. Since their creation, Elemon has been a faithful guardian and guide to his children, if incorrigibly irreverent and ribald when directly participating in the ceremonies and services dedicated to him. Elemon’s nature is good, but dares anyone to say it to his face. Hydris (Oceans) Original Race: Elf Empowering Agency: Luclar Titles: Wave Mother, Sailor's Wish Alignment:Lawful Neutral Domains: Knowledge, Magic, Protection, Travel, Water This goddess of the oceans is a lush beauty of exotic features and ample curves. She may seem flighty and unstable on the surface, but beneath her outward mannerisms she has a depth of wisdom and secrets that Dorn would envy. She can be cold at times but has also displayed a fair amount of heated passion for the things she values. There has been a rumor floating about for several millennia that she and Hest have been having a quiet affair, but these rumors are false. The two are merely close friends who often meet to discuss the goings on in the world and compare notes. If Hydris has an eye for anyone, it is the fanatical Heray Katsu of the Eastern Pantheon. The only thing keeping them apart is Heray Katsu’s human origins, which she fears may cause more trouble than any relationship might be worth. Her nature is neutral. Maximo (Gladiators) Original Race: Warigon Empowering Agency: Luclar Titles: The Grappler, Grand Champion Alignment: Lawful Neutral Domains: Animal, Strength, Trickery The fighter, brawler, and sportsman of the gods, Maximo is ready to take on any who challenge him and does so laughing. His nature is neutral and he owes allegiance only to those he esteems as true warriors. He is one of the only two persons to have ever defeated Hest on the field, a victory he savors to this day. The two have become good friends since and hold each other in high regard. Thorn (Earth and Plants) Original Race: Molcar Empowering Agency: Luclar Titles: Deep Rooted, Nature's Mate Alignment: Neutral Good Domains: Earth, Good, Plants If one were to meet Thorn, their first impression of him would be of an old country gaffer. This impression is not entirely wrong. For as long as any of the gods can remember (except maybe for Luclar and Zanza), Thorn has never been one to participate in the affairs of others, preferring to see to the upkeep of the world’s fields and forests. At one time, Dorn may have been able to recall that Thorn once faced down Zanza when the Great Devil intended to strip the world of every living thing upon it. How Thorn managed to send Zanza away like a whipped dog is anyone’s guess, but no one speculates on it because no one seems able to remember the incident. Thorn is willing to share a drink and bit of gossip with those who don’t pester him or give him a bad turn, otherwise, he’s just as content to go about his business. His nature is good and is the ultimate Green Thumb. Ungaro (Earthquakes and Fire) Original Race: Devil Empowering Agency: Zanza Titles: Ohshitrun! Alignment: Chaotic Evil Domains: Chaos, Evil, Fire, Destruction If one is careful, one might catch sight of Ungaro dancing in the flames of a camp fire, but most likely in the inferno of an erupting volcano. Some have claimed to have heard his echoing laughter in the rumbling of great earthquakes and a low snickering in minor tremors. Ungaro is indeed given to both wild dancing and unbridled laughter. No wise man, however would willingly be found in his company. This is for the simple reason that Ungaro is of the same breed as the Great Devil Zanza, though of much lesser degree. If this god of fire and earthquakes were to be left unchecked by the others of his pantheon, he would gladly destroy the world in his revellings. Ungaro’s nature is evil without any regard for the consequences of his actions. Karthas (Wind) Original Race: Sprite Empowering Agency: Luclar Titles: Wisdom's Whisper, Twisting Fury Alignment: Neutral Domains: Air, Knowledge, Magic, Trickery Very few of his fellows and even fewer mortals have ever actually seen Karthas, knowing he exists only by his whispered council upon the movement of the air. He goes where he will, does as he will, and rarely asks advise from others. At times, he will report the great deeds of man to Dorn, at others he will reveal secrets other gods would hold close to very mortals from whom they are meant to be kept. He is most often a gentle sort but can be moved to cause great destruction if given provocation. It is believed that only Hest and Luclar truly understand this aloof entity, although the one he is closest to is Baldur of the Northern Pantheon. His is a quiet nature of neutral. THE GODS OF THE SOUTH Ra Original Race: Devil Empowering Agency: N/A Titles: The Great Devil, Second Eldest Alignment: Neutral Evil Domains: Air, Death, Destruction, Earth, Evil, Fire, Knowledge, Strength, Sun, War, Water A false god, cruel, cunning, and maliciously intelligent. He is in truth the Great Devil Zanza. He masquerades as a lord of light and knowledge, but is only a bringer of misery and pain. His vassal is the lesser devil Anubis, his enemies are Isis, Bas, and Horus, while Agni sees his activities as amusing distractions. Ra is the blackest evil to exist, and is all the more deadly for his intelligence, patience, and ambition. Ra (or Zanza) is the master of the Five Lords of Fate, an alliance of powerful beings dedicated to the utter destruction of humans. Anubis Original Race: Demon Empowering Agency: Zanza Titles: Betrayal's Laughter Alignment: Chaotic Evil Domain: Death, Destruction, Strength, Trickery A devil loyal to Ra and the paramour of the treacherous Agni, a thorn in the sides of Isis, Bas, and Horus. He is the stealer of souls, devourer of hope, killer of peace. His nature is evil, but is ruled by his lust of beautiful things withheld from him. Agni Original Race: Engel Empowering Agency: Zanza Titles: Alignment: Neutral Evil Domains: Evil, Fire, Magic, Trickery Agni is the false hope of resurrection. She teases mortals with the dream of immortality. Lewd and vicious, manipulative and vindictive, she lives only for pleasures. She sees Isis as a prude, Bas as a rival, and Horus as a toy to be played with. Despite her dalliances with Anubis, she has grown weary of his unwelcome attentions, but continues to string him along as she may yet have use for him. Her nature is selfishly evil. Isis Original Race: Human Empowering Agency: Luclar Titles: Warsister Alignment: Lawful Good Domains: Good, Law, Strength, War Isis is the wife of unfaithful Horus, the patron of pregnant women and lawful war. She hates Ra, Anubis, and Agni for the atrocities they have committed, hopes in vain for Horus to see the error of his alliances with Agni, and is exasperated with Bas' indifference. Her nature is good, tempered with wisdom. Bas Original Race: Felonian Empowering Agency: Unknown Titles: Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Domains: Chaos, Knowledge, Luck, Magic, Trickery Bas is the elusive lady of the fool, the gambler, and the merchant. Her relations with Isis have always been cool, she ignores Horus, and sees Ra, Anubis, and Agni as elements of chaos to be used to her advantage. Her nature is neutral, salted with a capriciousness one would expect from an eight year old child. Horus Original Race: Elf Empowering Agency: Luclar Titles: Alignment: Chaotic Good (formerly Neutral Good) Domains: Air, Animal, Earth, Good, Protection, Water The master of the land, air, and rivers. He is obsessed with the Agni despite being husband to Isis, his continued existence is due only to the whim of Ra, and is an object of contempt to Anubis. His nature is good, but his wits have dulled to the point of imbecility.
