The Screming Plains A vast grasslands with scattered wood groves, this expanse is home to numerous species of birds, incests, and burrowing vermin. As its name suggests, it is a very noisey place. This is due to the great many creatures inhabitting the tall grasses and underbrush, where even at night the sound continues unabated. Located north of the human city of Tuvor and west of the Fire Wall Mountains, the Plains are a source of irritation for that city's inhabitants. Never the less, they do find a way to profit from the Plains. Many of the smaller birds are songbirds found nowhere else, and as such fetch a high price on the market. But just as there is profit, there is also great danger. Several of the serpents and incects of the Plians are incredibly venomous, able to kill a large man in seconds with a single bite. The Plains are often avoided by travelers, as several of its larger inhabitants are fierce predators. Those who venture deep into the Plains and return have identified some of these as monsterous reptiles, others as huge manti and spiders, and a few as great cats larger than tigers. Whatever their true natures, the Screaming Plains are a filled with danger. Several attempts have been made by Tuvor to expand into it, but the colony towns and forts have never lasted longer than a few months. Many of the survivors of these attempts have gone mad from the unrelenting noise, often digging out their own ears to have at least a momentary silence. The sounds of billions of creatures constantly echo through the Plains, even in the worst of storms and the coldest of winters. There are legends that a clan of wizards once maintained a keep in the middle of the Plains and unleashed a great horde of magically altered creatures into it as a means to ensure their privacy. Whether this is true is anyone's guess, and no one in living memory has ever returned to verify the truth of these tales.
